How many differences can you spot?

Oh .... if you think it looks like the bone in that left little toe is trying to come out through the side of the foot ... why, yes, you're right.

That looks horrid! Do you have a good foot doctor in this new place? I worry about your feet, since I have a good inkling of how much foot injuries hurt.
Wednesday, July 27th, 2005 02:31 pm (UTC)
Not yet, no.
I'm pretty certain that little toe's going to have to come off. It's no longer serving any useful purpose, and is a definite liability because it's so painful.
Wednesday, July 27th, 2005 02:34 pm (UTC)
Well, you'll feel better without it, but won't losing the toe affect your balance?
Wednesday, July 27th, 2005 03:14 pm (UTC)
I don't think it's really contributing anything to balance now. I can't put any weight on that toe; any pressure on it in any direction is excruciatingly painful.

Oooh. Are you experiencing any neuropathy in that left foot? Also looks like you've got some circulation issues.
Wednesday, July 27th, 2005 02:44 pm (UTC)
In my lay opinion, I agree.

See the response below.

I had another thought to add to it, but I lost the thought when the power sagged in response to a nearby lightning strike and [livejournal.com profile] cymrullewes' machine, llioness, which is not yet on uninterruptible power, rebooted.

I went and kicked things because I was 4 words, 30 seconds from finishing a LJ comment about Tiramisu.

It isn't a question of is he experiencing any but when is he NOT experiencing any. But the neuropathy was before it got this bad. It sort of occured with orginal trauma.

Circulation issues yes. But I'm not certain if they are in his foot or just his foot can't return the blood to the leg because of the missing bit of vein.

What she said.

Yes, there are severe neuropathy issues. It's gotten a lot better than it was, but that's not saying much. Stepping on the corner of a towel on a thick bath mat with that foot is painful. Stepping on a pencil lying flat on a carpeted floor is painful. Neither one will send me through the ceiling any more, but yes, to all practial purposes I'm in pain 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Circulation, too, has gotten a lot better ... but is still compromised. A 30mmHg compression sock helps somewhat. Being able to run for exercise would help more, but toe pain and limited ankle motion almost completely preclude that. My walking endurance isn't sufficient to do much good.

Yar! Take the fucker off!

Then wear it on a string around your neck. :)

"Oh my god, what is that?"

"It's a TOE! HAHAHAHAHAHAH!

"Oh god! Whose?"

"Mine!"

Heh. Thanks.

OOOOOOOOOOOOH! If I did it for you, you think I could get people to call me "Toecutter"?

"Do it for me, Bubba! Do it for the Toecutter!"

Ogre, dearling, that just made me image our daughters taking his toe to school as a show and tell exhibit.
Wednesday, July 27th, 2005 03:21 pm (UTC)
That's even better. :)

"What is that!?!?!?"

"Daddy's toe."

That made me laugh!

But seriously, ack. Yah, you need to have that looked at.

Soon, now, we shall have medical insurance again. And when we do, I shall be seeking a referral to a specialist.

I'll also be looking into social security disability again. Nothing less than narcotic painkillers will keep me pain-free, but on narcotic painkillers I can't think clearly enough to do a desk job. I'm increasingly certain the fact that I'm obviously in constant pain is a significant factor in why I can't get a job. (Of course, no-one's going to say that in so many words.)
Wednesday, July 27th, 2005 04:18 pm (UTC)
Ick. Maybe if you can have off with the little devil you can get your head clear enough to snag something....
Wednesday, July 27th, 2005 04:51 pm (UTC)
Well, the pain level sans painkillers isn't enough to stop me from getting a job done. I proved that at Ceva. The problem is convincing a prospective employer who doesn't already know that to give me a job. The only reason I got the Ceva job is because both of the people involved in making the decision were former co-workers from Cygnus. (Chris Baldwin was another releng who'd moved to MIS by the time I finally went to Cygnus, Christine was the comptroller.)

that's twisted, i love it!
