Sanity trumps beauty in the long run almost every time.  Unfortunately, sanity is rather harder to pre-screen for.

(OK, only partly random ... the thought was triggered by the lyrics of a Chris de Burgh song.)

Nah, it's pretty easy.

$OTHER_PERSON finds me attractive, they fail the pre-screening for sanity. (Based on the sample of 'people whom [livejournal.com profile] blackcoat has slept with.'

how do you screen for sanity? i've failed so many times to find someone sane.

i do know if they claim they are sane, or claim a number of other things, to disbelieve at this point.

i'm sure there are still some lovely people out there for me to meet. unfortunately, there are 99,999,999 insane ones.

it requires a longer timescale of screening.
and sanity's only relative anyway.

It is the fact that you said almost every time that worries me.

Sanity doesn't last forever. But it isn't as easy to tell when sanity will go away as it is to tell when beauty will fade.

So they are both fairly easy to pre-screen for but sanity has the Schroedinger-Heisenberg nature.

"Sanity is a one-trick pony — all you have is rational thought. But when you're good and loony, the sky's the limit!"

I think it's all about trying to find a flavor and amount of teh crazy you can deal with.

I'll elaborate more over a cup of coffee some time.

Housewarming on the 5th would be a good opportunity. We'll ply you with cappucino. :)

Insanity with really good drugs tops mundanity. :-)

Is sanity a good deal? It all depends on what you have to give up for sanity, doesn't it?

Monty, what's behind curtain number crazy?

I think I'd have to file that under "your mileage may vary". I had about four, five months of chemically induced temporary insanity in 1993, Crazy Time, and it was living hell. It was the single most horrific experience of my life.
