Sanity trumps beauty in the long run almost every time.  Unfortunately, sanity is rather harder to pre-screen for.

(OK, only partly random ... the thought was triggered by the lyrics of a Chris de Burgh song.)

It is the fact that you said almost every time that worries me.

Sanity doesn't last forever. But it isn't as easy to tell when sanity will go away as it is to tell when beauty will fade.

So they are both fairly easy to pre-screen for but sanity has the Schroedinger-Heisenberg nature.
