From a conversation [livejournal.com profile] cymrullewes had on IM:

(22:33:00) prefer trillian:  I envisage you as quite tall, good-looking in a stately, Irish kind of way, probably late thirties, red hair.

(22:33:49) prefer trillian:  Alaric, probably a shaved head, tall, not especially muscular but strong in a wiry kind of way, probably has at least one tattoo.

So, tell me y'all who have met us, would you say this is reality?  :-)

And for those who haven't met us, would you please comment with how you envisage us?

I will not be correcting any, er ... misapprehensions until everyone's had a chance to comment, to avoid biasing the data ;)

(Of course, at least two of my userpics give fairly good information ..... don't peek!)

Capsule summary:  PT is progressing well.  My left knee has recovered enough strength that I can now use my swim fins in the pool again, as long as I don't go full-out on it.  (Yes, even in the pool, I prefer to use fins when I swim, because human feet weren't designed for swimming; fins give much better hydrodynamic coupling.  This means I can make slower, powerful leg strokes instead of a lot of fast thrashing that mostly just churns water, all sound and fury, signifying nothing.  Slower, more powerful strokes are much easier on my knees than fast, easy ones, and better exercise to boot.)

They've stopped having me do double leg presses on the reformer and have me doing deep knee bends with a large ball between my back and the wall to cut friction, because, well ... there's no point in me doing double leg presses on the reformer any more.  I've maxed out the machine, and it doesn't go to eleven.

OK, this is real short and simple:  I find the recently-added "LJ Navigation Bar" or whatever they call it to be an annoyance and a waste of space that does absolutely nothing useful.  I turned it off for my own journal, but the stupid, useless thing keeps coming back every time I comment on someone else's post.  Anyone know a way to banish the damned thing altogether?

I hate quiz memes where you try to choose the right or "closest to right" answer to a question, but find the best you can do is "the least horribly, glaringly wrong".

That said, only one question in this quiz (via [livejournal.com profile] dakiwiboid) was that bad.

You are a Wizard!

MY FUCKING TOES HURT.

(And there isn't even any ... uh, "anatomical ahem" involved.)

[livejournal.com profile] radarrider pointed out this sadly-misguided LA Times editorial on the proposed California microstamping law.

My response, behind the cut )

I left California for a reason.  (Well, several reasons, actually.)  I live in New Hampshire now, and no longer have to suffer the raving idiocy that is California politics.  But that doesn't mean I have to sit idly by.

Update:  Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] sierra_nevada pointing out what I should have remembered myself, I now have a "Fear the Stupid" userpic.  Dogbert to the rescue!
