I just drained everyone's sinuses with what was supposed to be a mild, creamy curry.  First-time heat calibration problem with a new curry paste...

Oh, the curry paste?  Tiger, Tiger brand Kashmiri curry paste.

I think I had that once. It was good.

Sounds like something to add to my kitchen arsenal.

It seems to be a good brand. Kitchens of India brand is good, too.

Is this another of those "tastes like BURNING!" culinary experiments?

Nope. It wasn't that hot. He says he should have used half to get the heat level he intended. I think it would have been at mussamum level with 3/4's of what he used.

Whereas, with a kashmiri curry paste, I was expecting — and intending — closer to a biryani level of heat.

One might have taken the fact that naming it after only one vicious top predator was insufficient as some sort of clue.

Heh. Tiger Tiger being the brand and not the variety... I now am wondering how warm their korma would be.

Well, the thing is, other kashmiri curry pastes and powders I've used have been mild, biryani-level heat. This paste would probably have worked perfectly well if I'd used about half the quantity I did, but I misjudged it considerably.

If you aren't bleeding from the eyeballs....it's not hot enough!

Even "Tastes Like Burning" didn't result in anyone actually bleeding. :) Gasping for breath, yes, but not bleeding....
