It hasn't ever proven bad for me. But then, I don't sit down to a 22oz steak for supper.
I don't think it's so much that any particular food is bad for you (chemically processed crap like HFCS excepted; though I consider those chemical food additives, not food), as that any food in excess is bad for you. You want to stay healthy? Eat a range of different stuff, in moderation, as unprocessed as you can, and don't stuff yourself to bursting.
but given that I haven't had red meat, soda, or coffee since before the 1st of the year and I can *feel* the health benefits on a daily basis, I think there just might be something to this whole "pH balance - Standard American Diet (SAD) is not good for you, evolution never intended us to have it that often" thing.
I "cheated" a little bit on my pH balance diet - eating food I knew I shouldn't, on the acidic rather than alkaline scale. The next day I felt like I'd aged 10 yrs over night and had a horrid "body" hangover.
