[Washington, D.C.] Police Chief's Memo on Supreme Court Ruling

"[Washington, D.C.] Police Chief Cathy Lanier sent the following memo to District residents yesterday evening in the wake of the Supreme Court's ruling on the city's gun ban."

Clearly, my knowledge of US geography is sadly remiss.  I have labored under the mistaken impression that Washington, D.C, sits on the Potomac, not on de Nile.

I can't argue with that. It's not like she can make any reasonable pretense that she doesn't know she's doing her best to ignore as much of the ruling as she thinks she can get away with.

And personally, I'd like to see elected officials who propose or sponsor blatantly unconstitutional legislation immediately dismissed from office for wilful violation of their oath of office, and barred for life from ever holding public office or any position of public trust again.

Lanier's an appointed official. IIRC, she serves at the pleasure of either the city council or the mayor.
