or until something with a good deal of force hits it nicely on one of those beautiful cleavage planes which make it sparkle so prettily. ya' can't wear a diamond down, not really, but they're quite brittle. all kinds of interesting metaphors to make of that.
hopefully we'll crunch back into a new universe by then and will have a whole new set of fresh shiny protons or proton equivalents to play with. (i want a data mine for this stuff....)
It may be the one that's natural. This one is formed when a meteor strikes the earth. The rarest would be one from Arizona the other one is from I think Russia. Tanzanite is another one but it's heat modified and very fragile.
