You know you're an asshole when you're so offensive you can base an extortion racket on getting people to pay you to stay out of an IRC channel.

I finally got away from IRC, too many assholes, web forums are better for discussion and the other chat/IM services pwn my current friends.

It sounds like you would do better with a private IRC server.

This is why Freenode is putting so much effort into breaking away from the traditional IRC culture. And mostly, it's working.
