"We're getting the technical merit marks in from the judges now on Dick Cheney's performance in the shotgun field event .... 5.3, 5.2, 5.3, 5.1 ... these aren't very good marks at all.  And look, a 4.6 from the Russian judge.  Oh, my.  What a stunning blow this must be for the Vice-President."

"Yes, that mark almost certainly reflects his ill-advised choice of birdshot for a lawyer.  The Russians take proper choice of weapon and ammunition pretty seriously.  I'd say those marks just wiped out the Vice-President's chances of a medal in this event.  Back to you, John..."

"Thanks, Mark.  Yes, I think we have to agree, Vice-President Cheney is unquestionably out of the running in this event.  Let's take a minute to look at the biathlon results...."

I guess you've been watching the Olympics! Regardless of ammo choice, it's hard to give him a good score when reports are that he barely broke the skin.

I might be watching the Olympics if we had a TV and service. At present, we have neither.

(Well, OK, technically, we do have a TV. It's a 46" Pioneer back-projection TV. But it's 11 years old, it's still in North Carolina because there wasn't room for it on the truck, and our plan called for giving it to [livejournal.com profile] cymrullewes' mother in Maryland, because it still works perfectly well and will be a big improvement over her small (16"?) and aging TV, but its front screen won't survive any more abuse from smalls who like to stand right in front of it and bang on the screen with their hands and with implements.)

I'm waiting for a reporter out there to say "And Vice-President Cheney was shooting at Dan Quayle when he accidently shot the lawyer."
