People who refer to Gandhi, in print even, and can't take the trouble to SPELL HIS FRELLING NAME CORRECTLY.

Isn't it ultimately a transliteration from a different character set anyway? It seems a bit like complaining about people spelling russian words wrong in ASCII. Well, of course they're spelled wrong. You're using the wrong letters completely.

...but there's a clearly accepted "standard" spelling, Gandhi, that's been in use for over half a century now. Mohandas Gandhi, Indira Gandhi, it's perfectly well established. Yet many people who should know better persist in spelling it "Ghandi" instead.
The same people will huffily correct you if you should chance to misspell the name of their favorite pop star, rapper, or baseball/football/basketball player.
"No, it's Britney, not Brittany."
"Yo, homie, it be Snoop Doggy Dogg, with two G's. Word."

You misspelled that.

It's "Yo dawg. It be Snoop Doggy Dogg. Fo shizzle"
