Three Retirements

The Idaho State Patrol is retiring the Ruger Mini-14 5.56mm carbines that their troopers used to carry in their trunks in favor of Colt M-4 5.56mm carbines, complete with three-round-burst capability.  The new M4s will ride up front, not in the trunk.  Makes sense; if you're going to tote such a thing around because you think you may need it, you might as well tote it someplace you can get to it when you need it.

After 40 years of service, the USS Sacramento has been retired after 40 years of US Navy service.  The Sacramento, a support vessel, will be decommissioned in October and scrapped.  Pipe bands played as "the Sac" docked at Bremerton for the last time.

And last but not least, the retired Concorde formerly known by callsign Alpha Delta is now open to the public at the Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum in New York.  75 museums around the world put in bids to get one of the 13 surviving Concordes.
