Dissent is not treason, true. However, one must recognize that freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences. Say what you feel you must as long as you first think about the effects of what you will say, and whether or not you can back it up with evidence in cases where that may be required.

True, but that's orthogonal to the point that there's something badly wrong when question of the President's ability to fulfil the duties of his office, or performance in so doing, is met with accusations of treason and a smear campaign. It sets worrisome precedents for future trends.
