Excessive force (and then some) in Portland OR

Thank ilcylic for these two accounts of Portland, OR police beating up and pepper-spraying a blind, half-deaf, 71-year-old woman and her 94-year-old mother for the heinous crime of trying to make sure a city employee wasn't mistakenly hauling off a 90-year-old antique wagon along with her yard waste.  Portland PD continue to insist they did nothing wrong, and were in fear for their lives from these two handicapped geriatrics.

In San Jose, we just shoot dead Vietnamese mothers in their kitchens, and unarmed hispanic mistaken-identity victims who have their arms in the air, hollering "Don't shoot!" (This last guy wasn't even the guy they had an arrest warrent for; he just looked like him. Whoops.)

There's a lot of justifiable public uproar over these incidents. The Vietnamese woman was holding a vegetable peeler, understandable for a kitchen, and the officer said he "thought she had a knife and feared for his life." This from an armed cop, facing a 110 lb woman in her kitchen.
