It is reported that the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna, Russia has synthesized six atoms of element 117, by the same technique they previously used to create element 118, now officially named Copernicium. The discovery is the result of a joint project between JINR and five other sites — Lawrence Livermore and Oak Ridge National Laboratories, Tennesee's Vanderbilt University, the University of Nevada, and the Research Institute of Atomic Reactors in Dimitrovgrad.
