... or does this say something about our politicians in general?  Yet another Obama nomination has hit a rough spot in the road — this time, former Dallas mayor Ron Kirk, whom Obama wants as the US trade representative ... and who turns out to owe the IRS $10,000 in back taxes between underreported income, overclaimed expenses, and "improper treatment of accounting fees".

Yo!  Mr. President!  I don't owe any taxes.  How about you appoint me to one of these jobs?  ...Oh, wait, that disqualifies me?

Or does it say something about our tax code? He had a very expensive paid accountant doing his taxes, and he didn't get it right..

There's that, too. Very true.

I would have to vote "politicians in general" on this one.

No, your having a working set of ethics and morals disqualifies you. If that didn't, the active sense of responsibility would.

Obama's vetting team isn't very good.

What worries me is that these are the ones that passed vetting. What if the others were worse?

If you aren't so grossly-overpaid and cross-connected as to make your tax situation a morass of special rules an accounting firm can't unscramble however will you deal with the swampland that is bureaucracy & policy? Much less lead a group of individuals many of whom actually want to effect change without crossing swords with your leader who doesn't want to be caught unawares?

It is all a Bush plot. His people are still running the IRS. They are out to embarrass the new administration. That's it, a vast right wing conspiracy!

The sad thing is, if I didn't know better, I'd think you were being serious.

Thank you for understanding. I think the real problem is the IRS tax code. But that has been stated already.
