And make sure you read that in the properly stern Klingon tone of voice.  Imagine it's LtCmdr Worf saying it.

Got the CBR929RR out today . . . found that I'm OK as long as I'm on the bike, but can't walk much in my boots.  On the other hand, I was able to do a reasonably respectable job of shifting, so maybe I won't be needing that Translogic power shifter after all (which is a good thing, since we don't have $1200 to buy it).  It ran a little rough for the first minute or so, but 25-30 miles of riding seems to have pretty much blown the cobwebs out.  The low fuel light came on about five miles from home, so the next time I take it out I need to put fuel in it.  My riding skills are understandably rusty, but seemed to be coming back quickly.  (It may be a while before I'm hanging off the bike in corners again though.)

It probably didn't help that the fuel has been sitting in there turning to varnish slowly for the past however long. You may well want to put some fuel system cleaner gunk in it with this next tank of fuel...

You probably should read [livejournal.com profile] radarrider... I forget exactly what he's got, but it's not a Hardly Ableson, so you two should be able to compare notes without getting on each others' nerves.... you'll have to forgive him for working for the Evil Empire, though. But you guys' politics are probably pretty close...

Yeah, I think a bottle of fuel injector cleaner is definitely called for. It's been most of a year since I last rode it ... been in surgery after surgery after surgery all that time.

But at least one of'em finally seems to have worked.

That and you finally got that bone chip out, which hopefully was the last of the issues....

What kind of shoes are you using normally, one is curious?

Well, the bone chip was an unanticipated leftover from one of the two most recent surgeries. But yeah, that definitely cut the pain level way down. Now if the toe would just finish healing ... I'm still waiting for the abscess to finish closing, and it's been bleeding around the left edge of the nail too.

Right now I have one set of shoes I can comfortably wear for extended periods, which is a set of Fila crosstrainers in size 12½ with extra insoles in them plus a heel lift in the left shoe. I can with somewhat less comfort wear my Frey-Daytona riding boots, but could probably do with an extra size or size and a half in those too. (However, since they cost $800, we won't be getting me a new pair of those any time soon.) And I have a pair of semi-dress shoes that I could wear last time I tried, but haven't tried them since this last surgery and don't know if I can wear them now or not. I suppose I should find out soonish. My guess is "probably not."
