  1. Tightened up all the bolts on all the dining room chairs.  Again.
  2. Took apart, re-glued and re-assembled the chair on which the girls had managed to shear both glue joints and one of the two screws holding the chair seat's back rail (to which the chair back is attached) to the side rails.  (Which is to say, only three screws now held the seat together.)
  3. Went outside to fix our variable-geometry coffee table, which got broken in our move here, only to find that I'd already repaired it a year ago and forgotten I'd done so.
  4. Washed a year's accumulated dust off said table (with Goose's variably-helpful help) and brought it inside.  Why I didn't bring it in when I originally repaired it, I don't know.
  5. Got at least most of the upper body of my motorcycle cleaned off.
  6. Stripped down the bottom-bracket bearings on the blue mountainbike in the shed that [livejournal.com profile] cymrullewes has been wanting to ride.  Found the right-hand side bearing shell and race completely collapsed and the balls rolling loose in the bracket.  Cannibalized a new set of bearings from one junk bike, reassembled the bearings with copious use of grease, lubed the chain and gearset, adjusted both shifters into something resembling correct adjustment, test rode, installed new brake blocks, adjusted the brakes, test rode again, and switched brake cables to put the front brake lever on the right handgrip as God and Soichiro Honda intended.
(Oh, it needs a new gearset sometime, too.  Chainwheel is slightly bent.)
  7. Came in to clean up and ended up throwing supper together first, then going to shower.

I am now completely wiped out, but feeling productive.

I dunno about you, but every foot-powered bike I've ever been on has had the front handbrake on the left... While I totally agree with you about non-English powered bikes, I hope your ladyship isn't cornfoozed...

So Honda-sama and the Mariner's left fielder almost share a "first" name? (Ichiro :) Hum. Wonder what it means.

True, left=front seems to be the standard for bicycles. But right=front is the standard for motorcycles. Consistency is everything ... I've always switched brake levers on all my bicycles for that exact reason. It'd suck to grab for the wrong lever in a moment of instincetive reaction.

I don't know what Soichiro means, but Ichi is "one" ....

Uhm, I tend not to use the brakes. So it doesn't bother me none. If I do use the brakes then I squeeze both levers. I don't go that fast and I tend to stop peddling and start coasting when I get near where I'm going.
