It's been five days since I posted this, and not one person has bit on the blatant Spinal Tap reference.  What's wrong with you people?  Get on the job!  :)

Oh, the coffee maker that "goes to 11"? Some references are sufficiently obvious that one considers them part of the normal flow of conversation and doesn't really comment on them.

heh, that's exactly what I came to post myself.

I think people who DONT get the reference are the anomaly now.

I remember in the early 80s there were music stores selling musical-instrument knobs that were knock-offs of the ones found on Stratocasters, Les Pauls, etc., marked from 0-11 instead of 0-10. Wish I had availed myself of some.

Have you noticed that the amp in Guitar Hero goes to 11?

Every time I think about buying a game console and a copy of Guitar Hero, I start thinking guilty thoughts about the fact that I own a real guitar I haven't picked up in many years.

Guitar Hero has even less to do with real guitar playing than Dance Dance Revolution does with dancing.

Still fun as hell.

If I were buying for a game, though, I'd target Rock Band. It's the better implementation (by the -original- GH and GH2 developers, who specialize in music games) and has much better social appeal.

Well, see, this is exactly why I expected SOMEONE would make some kind of counter-reference. :)

Me too. I saw it, chuckled, thought "nice spinal tap reference", and didn't have anything to add, so I didn't reply. :-}

(I'm replying now, cuz, you know, I recently did that "I'm not usually a comment whore" post, and so I'm aware that sometimes those "I don't have anything to add" posts are exactly the kinds of posts where the poster DOES want comments)
