We likely won't know anything for 2-3 weeks, but I think the interview went well.  I also think it looks like probably being a good company to work for, and I'm pretty sure I can get along with the people.  It's a very small company, 15 people at present.  Salary range is in the $60k-$70k range, full benefits, profit sharing, 25% company-matched 401K, and no worthless stock options.

The area is about 20 minutes north of the DC beltway, probably about the same distance from the VA border, and would be a very practical commute from Sterling VA if there was a direct route -- but unfortunately there isn't one that I know of.  There's this small matter of absence of a bridge.  I'd much sooner live in VA than in MD, given the choice, but I don't think it'd be very practical.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you. All things considered, I think we'd sooner be back on the Left Coast ourselves, but you take what you can get. If we'd known in advance that Davide was going to procrastinate until he pissed away the GSU job, or that coming here was going to be sucha trap, or .... but that way lies madness. Foresight cannot ever be 20/20. (THough I often feel I've done worse than most.)

Anyway, Sterling or anywhere in VA just doesn't look to be in the cards, unless I'm willing to commute in to the Beltway and back out each day. I'd really prefer not to deal with MD. On the other hand, we have found some really promising-looking townhouses for rent in Rockville MD, so even at that, all would not be lost.

That commute is what my father does every day. I think his theory was that it is worth it to keep my little brother out of crappy neighborhoods. Of course, he's more paranoid about influence than I am. I think kids need to see some wierd shit when they are growing up so they have some idea of how to deal with it when they are older. But that's just me. I might feel different if I had children of my own.

So where's he actually commuting to and from, and how long does it take him?
