One expects to periodically be proudly presented with dead rodents and similar small mammalia by one's cats.  It's an inherent part of having cats.

One does not, normally, expect the same from one's children.

I just can't help laughing at this. I'm sorry, I just can't.

It truly depends on the child.
One question: was the mole really dead or only faking?
Usually the lizards and mice our cats caught were only faking.

I'm pretty certain both moles were really dead. If the first was faking, it was the best play-dead act I've ever seen, and the second had been dead long enough to have fly eggs on it (though it was not yet exhibiting any other detectable signs of decay).

That's what you get for letting them hang out with cats.
