Besides the fact that companies are throwing away their future and their accumulated base of experience for a short-term boost on the balance sheet right now, regardless of the effects a year or two years down the line?

I am curious what will eventually be left for Americans as employment.

R&D, management, and capital ownership.

And I am not opposed to leaving America. If other places have more R&D work, they could be more pleasant.

Unfortunately, this is Global Services. Their sole purpose in life is to provide horrifically expensive consulting "services" in return for something that you could have gotten via Google for free, or hired a local contract programmer to do for you.

Cringely is not always right. I read that earlier. Cringely predicted that IBM was imploding a couple of years back. Global Services really does not deserve to survive. They have great cash flow, but lousy profitability. I am more disturbed about canceling their pension program.
