So ... I've now responded to two of these lists posted by online friends, ariyanakylstram and
ilcylic. According to Damon Knight's Rule Golden, what you do unto others shall be done unto you. That being the case, it's only fair I now put up the same list myself and take my lumps.
- Give me a nickname and explain why you picked it.
- How long have you known me?
- When and how did we first meet?
- What was your first impression?
- Do you still think that way about me now?
- What do you think my weakness is?
-
Do you think I'll get marriedum, that one's kinda moot, innit? So let's try this instead:
When you first knew me, did you think I was ever likely to get married (at all or again)? - What makes me happy?
- What makes me sad?
- What reminds you of me?
- If you could give me anything what would it be?
- How well do you know me?
- Ever wanted to tell me something but couldn't?
- Do you think I could kill someone?
- Describe me in one word.
- Do you think our friendship is getting stronger, weaker, or staying the same?
- Do you feel that you could talk to me about anything and I would listen?
- Are you going to put this on your live journal and see what I say about you?

1.) Theodosius. *shrug* It's funny.
2.) Since about 1995. Maybe 1996.
3.) We first met in person at your apartment, in summer '97.
4.) "This guy has lots of neat stuff! And a really big subwoofer! And scones!"
5.) Yeah, pretty much, plus some other things.
6.) Stairs. (I'm really sorry, but I couldn;t resist...)
7.) Hrmmm. I don't know. I hadn't really thought about it.
8.) vr00ms. Being able to ride again will make you really happy. Your kids.
9.) Stupid people. Stupid people breaking cool shit.
10.) Scones. Babylon 5.
11.) Replacement skeleton and tendons and ligaments.
12.) Medium well.
13.) Nope. Though I don't know if I ever properly managed to express how honored I was that you asked me to be your best man.
14.) Yep. Especially if your family was threatened.
15.) Tenacious.
16.) stronger, though there have been points where I've let it slip, or wither, or not paid it enough attention.
17.) As you said, as long as I wasn't blathering crap, yeah.
18.) Done. :)

Re:
6... Well, you have a point. :)
13: I really can't think who on earth else I would have asked.
Re:
6.) *grin* I'm sure glad I have friends with senses of humor.
13.) I'm still honored.

Re:
That was it. I knew it was something undeniably British, and scones were what came to mind. Well, now, scones will remind me of you too. :)

2. A couple of years on #callahans and around the place. Not really made your acquaintance till recently, though.
3. #callahans, probably
4. That you were scary smart.
5. Yep.
6. I don't think I know you that well yet. :)
7. You were married when I first met you.
8. Things that go zoom and your family, not necessarily in that order.
9. Wanton stupidity.
10. Things that go zoom.
11. A job.
12. Not as well as I'd like.
13. Not really.
14. Yep, if you had to.
15. Loyal.
16. Hard to tell from this end alone. I'd have to talk to you about it.
17. Dunno.
18. Probably.

11... that would probably be #1 on my want list right now, yeah. :) Well, that or a new set of legs and lower spine. My sacrum has this nasty habit of slipping out of alignment.

2. Several years.
3. alt.callahans
4. I was prepared to dislike you on sight, frankly, because someone I knew already knew from alt.c was in the midst of breaking up with you, and I resented you for that.
5. Not at all. I've developed a great deal of respect for you.
6. I wonder if perhaps you're just a bit too unwilling to compromise. But I could be wrong on that, because I tend to compromise or just plain give in very quickly.
7. I wasn't expecting you to remarry, much less marry a woman with children.
8. Your family, things that go vroom.
9. The onging effects of your accident, bureaucracy, the economy, politics (although perhaps angry is more accurate than sad for several of those).
10. Motorcycles.
11. Complete healing of your leg and foot. Or a steady job.
12. Moderately well; you seem to be pretty open about yourself and your opinions.
13. Going back to question 4, I started out wanting to tell you I thought you were being a jerk, but am glad in retrospect that I gave you the chance to prove yourself, rather than acting on my prejudices.
14. Yes.
15. Intense.
16. About the same at this point. I suspect we've reached a level that won't change significantly unless we meet in meatspace.
17. Pretty much so, yes.
18. I've already had this on my LJ, but if you want to respond, here's the link to my version (http://www.livejournal.com/users/janetmiles/92151.html).
Re:
6... Possibly. I know I'm very unwilling to compromise on things I consider important. But I could rant at some length on that.
7... Truth to tell, neither was I. :)
11... Either would be enormously welcome.
13... Thank you. :) And I should in fairness say that in retrospect, I don't much like how I was acting at the time either. (The gripping hand is, at the time my mind was so screwed up I hardly knew up from down.)
16... You're likely right about that.
Re:
This is probably due to extreme similarity in the regard...

2. 5 years
3. October of 1998 and because I needed information about Macintosh clones for a school paper.
4. Yay!
5. Yup.
6. Socially: You didn't get enough social interaction when younger. Physically: Small pieces of toys on the floor.
7. Didn't cross my mind til about three months after we met and then I said yes two months after that.
8. Elegant code. Clean house. Good book. Good food. Good friends.
9. Messy house. Burning supper. Stupid people don't make you sad, they make you furious. Our girls being dense makes you sad because you know they know better.
10. Black. Motorcycles (yes, even Harley's). Airplanes. Boats.
11. A time machine.
12. I know where you are ticklish.
13. Yes.
14. Yes. Otherwise you wouldn't have carried a pistol to answer the front door at 02:00 those mornings in San Jose.
15. Competent
16. Could it get stronger?
17. After a bit of time has passed. We do get in to arguements where we'll stop listening to each other and we take a break and then get back to discussing instead of arguing.
18. Sure. Just opening Logjam now. Quick CTCP NOWPLAYING to see what the music is. Done.
