Last week, it was Joe Zumbo.

This week, Capitol Hill Blue's Doug Thompson picks up Joe Zumbo's banner and runs with it.

I don't know whether these people really are all that confused about the Second Amendment, or whether they're just all falling over themselves to throw "ugly guns" to the wolves in the hope of being allowed to keep their preferred firearms.  The fact that the liberal elite are already demonizing their "sporting rifles" as "long range sniper rifles" never seems to intrude upon their consciousnesses.

In the words of no less than Benjamin Franklin, "Gentlemen, if we do not all hang together, then we will surely all hang separately."

But that didn’t stop the NRA and its members from coming down on him with guns blazing. Assault gun owners, and the companies that make them, demanded Zumbo be fired from Outdoor Life and the Outdoor Channel. The cable channel suspended his show, he resigned from Outdoor Life after 6,000 readers sent in email demanding he be fired and Remington Arms Company, which makes assault rifles, severed its sponsorship of his program and activities.

I love how activities that, when performed by the left, are considered "protected free speech" are, when performed by the right, considered "jack boot thuggery."

Message to Thompson and Zumbo: The Second Amendment is not about hunting. If anything, the types of weapons that are carried by our soldiers - namely assault rifles such as the M4 and M16 - are the very weapons the Second Amendment says we have the right to possess. Oh, and it's "assault rifles" not "assault weapons." There is no officially recognized class of firearm known as the "assault weapon," at least concerning functionality. "Assault weapons" are defined solely by cosmetic characteristics.

For this, I prefer Franklin's, "If you turn yourselves into sheep, the wolves will eat you."
