Failed bathroom vent van motor replaced.

Rusted-out, crumbled, disintegrated remains of garage floor-drain cover replaced.

On the left, the crumbled remnants of the original cover.  On the right, the replacement, a 7" blind flange plasma-cut from 1/4" stainless plate.

Bonus +5000.

Lucky man with a floor drain in the garage. When I was growing up in Venezuela, there would be floor drains in every bathroom as well as the kitchen. Cleaning the (usually concrete or tile) floor was a breeze - slosh a bucket of water onto the floor, then squeegee the water down the drain.

I'm really disappointed in kitchens and bathrooms in the U.S.

I've never understood why first-world Western bathrooms don't come with tiled floors and floor drains either. I suppose the floor drain is incompatible with the all-too-common wall-to-wall carpeting in the bathroom though. (Could there possibly be a more stupid place in a house for wall-to-wall carpeting?)

Too true.
Shag carpet and spilled, un-set jello.

Actually, I was first thinking of the Republic of Tea Vanilla Cherry stain on the office carpet and how it could have more easily happened in the kitchen.

Then I got to think about tomato sauces on the stove and how they splatter.

All true ..... but at least the results of those aren't as foul as a bathroom mishap. (I'm thinking of the persistent stench in the master broom closet bathroom in the trailer.)

Even kitchens aren't generally as frequently wet as bathrooms. And that's not even getting into the results if your toilet backs up or overflows.

Bathrooms and kitchens should both be tiled with drains. As it is My Husband and I are going to rip up the horrid, yellow sheet vinyl that graces the kitchen circa 1970 (yes,it has flowers)and go with the cconcrete underneath. Easier to clean and much nicer to look at.

The stupider place is stairs. More children, old people and me get injured by them than most any other place. Bathrooms 2nd, kitchens 3rd. I do question the sanity of anyone who carpets any of them.
