Caught up on my email backlog from the past week.  It included two possible-job probes; unfortunately, the more local of the two, for a three-year contract position for Lincoln Labs (that's MIT, to you) wasn't really applicable, but the other may have possibilities if they're willing to consider a remotie.

Aww, but Lincoln Labs is such a cool place to work. Or at least, so it seems from my friends who work there.

Congrats on catching up on your email backlog.

I put up a position that may or may not be close to what you want to do. When you have evaluated it, would you delete the post, I left an email in the clear by mistake.

This would be the "From a Linux list" posting? I've screened it for now. [livejournal.com profile] cymrullewes was right, J2EE/JBOSS/EJB experience is an issue, as I have never learned iether Java or C++. (I have to get back to that at some point.) I'm not ruling it out, if that's a negotiable point.

That would be the entry.

I always look at those things as a wish list. If I am strong in most of the requirements, I apply anyway. Unless they have someone very specific in mind, you will be considered. (That assumes that you are willing to learn something new for a job...)

I told him that they were asking for the stars and would be willing to settle for the moon.

Learning new things was the reason he went to Red Hat after 5 years at Cardima.

Yup, one reason at least. I felt that my technical skills were stagnating and my advice was being ignored.
