First, the good news:  Not only does lycopene, found in tomatoes, have an inhibitory effect on prostate cancer, but now it's been learned that so does xanthohumol, found in beer.

Now the bad news:

"[...] the 17 beers and four large pizzas [per day] needed to get enough xanthohumol and lycopene to help prevent prostate cancer is unfortunately not advised", according to the National Prostate Cancer Coalition....

There is a Germany brewery that is trying to make a beer that has the required amount of xanthohumol per serving.

Are these nutrients found in anything else, so that one might get them from a balanced diet?

Oh, and pasta and salad is probably a better way to get tomatoes than pizza :)
