Three days after surgery, and JOY OF JOYS, I'm allowed to change the dressing on my leg and take a much-needed shower. No longer am I sweaty and stinky. It turns out there's four incisions in my knee, one of which is still seeping slightly¹. They're much more lightly re-dressed now, without the Ace bandage (yes, the post-surgical instructions said I didn't need to re-wrap the Ace bandage), just a pair of 4" gauze pads and a pair of 2" gauze bandages.
For the curious, here's what it looked like before re-dressing:
As you can see, it's swollen, but not all that badly. The ..... uh .... damn. There was something else I was going to say, but I went upstairs to the bed for a bit (because I was in pain) and I completely forgot what it was by the time I came down.
Oh, right -- the blue coloration isn't bruising, it's something they washed my leg with prior to surgery. The scars down the middle of each knee date from 1999.

Anyway, I'm walking on it now with just the cane, as long as I have shoes on, and even went out to the field (sitting, I'll admit, in a folding director's chair) to snipe at the kids with my Vortex Firestorm for a little while, before it decided to rain cats, dogs and assorted farm animals². (I was reminded during this little sally that the Firestorm is very ammunition-sensitive. It DEMANDS the yellow rings. Load it with the only slightly softer orange rings, and it jams like a bastard and you can't hit a thing with it beyond fifteen feet.)

I should build a shotgun that looks like that thing.
Maybe less bright orange, though.
