I have read a bit about the documents without actually reading the book. So this is all gathered from tertiary sources. The documents were commented on in 180 AD by a (not yet) French Bishop. We finally have the text of the documents but the fact that we have a COPY of the orig. scroll that is from about 300AD just means it is old. It doesn't make the document any more true. This could have been a hoax. It could have been made to discredit a group. Think of how many people believe The Protocols Of The Elders Of Zion (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0853035954/sr=8-3/qid=1144800483/ref=pd_bbs_3/104-8368338-9575920?%5Fencoding=UTF8) are real.

Indeed. In fact, given how many competing religions the world has with how many competing versions of How It All Began, What It's All About, and the Ultimate Question Of Life, The Universe, And Everything (sometimes, multiple different and mutually inconsistent versions per religion, an area in which Christianity is particularly bad), I personally have yet to see any compelling reason to believe that ANY of them is actually a true and accurate account of events that really occurred.
