The new-to-us HP 2500CM color printer that we recently acquired is quite inarguably not working properly.  At the moment, in fact, it's refusing to print anything at all, trying to run every print job from tray 2 and then insisting that tray 2 empty.  (It isn't.)

Looks like I get to hunt down the service manual for it and see what I can figure out.  I hope it's not going to turn out to have been wasted money.

I recall a number of HP printers had problems with the paper sensors, and those weren't too hard to fix, so it's probably a viable route to inspect.

I sympathize. A USB enclosure I used for backups recently ate two hard disks in succession.

BTDT. In my case, turned out to be a broken little plastic lug on the tray itself.
