Bread

There's bread ... developing in the bread machine.  I'd say baking, except it isn't, yet.  I'm not sure quite what the bread machine is supposed to be doing at this stage.

cymrullewes had me measure and add several of the ingredients, and I touched the bread machine at least twice.

It's doomed, I tell you.  Dooooomed.

You remembered also the undocumented five minutes of not touching? Good. Like technoshaman, we are curious to know what went boom (or flat) this time.

It looked wonderful when I came down this morning. Then I looked at the other side of it and there seemed to be a rather large bite taken out of the crown crust.

That wasn't a bite. That was the piece that ripped off the edge of the crust when I lifted the wire handle on the pan.
