Two medical appointments to report on today.

Yesterday's appointment was the orthopedist.  There was no MRI, yet.  We discussed options regarding my knees, the upshot of which is that I have a referral for 4-6 weeks of physical therapy, three days a week.  Evening sessions are available; I may very well go for that.  If we don't have positive results after 4-6 weeks, then the next option is arthroscopic surgery with the goal of debriding the damaged cartilage and releasing the exterior patellar ligament, which will allow my kneecaps to float a little further away from the knee, reducing pressure and (hopefully) abrasion.

Today's appointment was the pain management specialist.  We concluded that the first temporary (injected) block went so well and gave such positive results that we're not going to do any more temporary blocks, we're going to proceed straight to RF ablation of the sympathetic sciatic nerve.  It should stop all sympathetic pain in my left leg for six to eight months, then will have to be re-done.  The procedure is scheduled for 1300E March 7.

Good luck. Getting a handle on the pain will be a huge step forward, so to speak!

sushi. Bought some lovely avacados and some unagi and surimi. Just need to double check where my nori is and to buy some cucumbers and daikon. We even have sashimi grade tuna.

Want to come over and eat?

No, see -- [livejournal.com profile] unixronin needs to come here and do something about his as-yet-un-winterised motorcycle, before the gas goes all gummy and he has to go through the fuel injectors with a #16 pipe cleaner.

And.... I... *mumble*mumble*don'tlikesushi*mumble*

Yes, I really need to get that done. And I'm tempted to burn a little injector cleaner as a precaution, if my foot will allow it. There was a bottle of Techron in the trunk of the Intrepid, last I knew.

We could try you on a few things like, say, trailer trash maki. :)

(Fish sticks and tartar sauce wrapped in rice....)

Good luck-losing the pain would be huge for you I'm sure.

Well, the sympathetic pain is only one component of the pain. But its absence is something worth having.
