...or, not. Our Thanksgiving surprise is our water heater spewing hot water all over the floor. Chapter 2 was finding out that the inlet stopcock to said water heater doesn't actually seal, so in order to stop the buckets of water that we were bailing, I had to shut off all water to the house.
If we're lucky, the heater itself is OK, and it's just that the relief valve has failed -- and, being a relief valve, has done as intended and failed open. However, because we're tenants, no plumber will touch it without prior authorization from our landlady -- and getting hold of her could take days, if not longer. I've left email, and left messages on her home and cell phone, but ... frankly, I'll be surprised if we hear back before next week, which means we can expect to have no water for three or four days.
I guess we'll be going out tomorrow to buy three or four 5-gallon bottles of emergency drinking water. Yippee.

We got the water turned back on last night at about 2200. Didn't try the shower as their coming back today to do something else.
You guys should come visit us. We did a manic clean spree of the living room last night because the landlady had to come by. Only thing not down was the kitchen, because you know you can't wash dishes without water. So that's my job when I go home (early!) today.
I'll make chocolate orange cheesecake... actually, no. It's November. That means I get to make chocolate cherry cake with cream cheese frosting. Must remember to buy cherry pie filling and salad.

You do realize how far away you live, right? :-)
Took me 1/2 an hour to get to your place from mine. That's, like, practically neighbors in west-of-495 speak. Far. Bah.
Sorry we missed the desserts!!! :D

And yeah, it isn't that far to go to see people for an hour or so, but is far for showers and the like.
It's okay. The cake sort of fell to pieces. I'm planning on a cheesecake sometime soon. Chocolate orange again.
