...You might do well to call Citibank, NOW, and ask whether your account is on the list of compromised numbers, because evidence seems to indicate that if it is, they're not going to warn you.  Over the last few days I've been hearing a lot of stories from people who've been contacted by all their banks -- except Citibank -- and issued replacement cards with new account numbers because their cards have been compromised, but none of them have been contacted by Citibank.  One individual I know with a Citibank card found over $200 of fraudulent charges on his card this month from the Ukraine, and when he called Citibank, he was told his card was on the list of accounts believed compromised -- but even after telling him this, Citibank did not offer to issue him a new card.  He's going to call them back and read them the riot act.

Be warned.

Which list? The lost back-up tapes were loan customers.

I'm hardly pleased with Citibank after they introduced a 3% surcharge on foreign currency purchases ...

This is in reference to the list of 40 million or so credit card numbers compromised by that outfit in California whose name is currently escaping me.

Link? I want to know when I'm talking about when I yell at them.

Thanks!

So it turns out that my account is among those compromised. They said they're going to monitor my account closely for unauthorized charges, and that I am indemnified.

We'll see what rigmarole I encounter if some evildoer does use my platinum card.

I hope you got that in writing.

I did actually (electronic message). It's also in the original card agreement.

[livejournal.com profile] dandelion_diva was affected by the CardSystems compromise. The bank sent her a letter saying that her account was on the list of compromised accounts and that she'd be getting a new card within the week. Beside random outages which makes my debit mastercard not work sometimes, I've been fairly pleased with how my bank has operated.

Something similar happened a few years back and they issued me a new card.

Yeah, I understand this is what most banks have been doing.
