I just got a delinuent registration notice from California DMV for the Benz, which has been registered in New Hampshire since May There's no option on the form for "This vehicle is no longer registered in California."
California DMV, however, has an online services page on which you can contact them and ask them any question whatsoever.
...Any question that you can fit into 200 characters, that is.
Idiots.
Footnote: cymrullewes suggests, "Screw you, it's registered in New Hampshire now. P.S. You owe me six months of registration fees."
(Oh yeah, word to the wise ... don't ever buy a car in California that has expired registration, unless you want to pay for the previous owner's overdue registration.)
Update:
The automated mail response I get shotgunned answers to a number of different questions, mostly inapplicable, but the last of which stated "If you no longer live in California, write this on the form and mail it back." Well, would it be so hard to add a checkbox for that on the form, then?
Oh, and -- hey, California? You mailed the frelling form to New Hampshire. What do YOU think?
