Stories like this give me hope for <Son> to make it out of karts, then I realize he'll be competing against kids just like this and it makes me despair.
The right way to look at it is that is's the kids like this, including <Son>, that all the rest of us have to compete with (and usually fail miserably). Your son is definitely within reach of being one of the Nicky Haydens of the world.
