Playing BrainQuest with Wen the Eternally Surprised, who just turned three.  The card has a picture of a table with only three legs instead of four.

Me:  "What's missing from this table?"

Wen:  "Chairs."

Well, she's right....

And isn't it great that her mind isn't being limited by the expectations of others? (Who says tables have to have four legs?)

Our kitchen table only has one leg. (Mind you, it's a pedestal, but...)

I had a 3-legged table before, and there was nothing wrong with it!

The drawing was clearly of a four-legged table with one leg missing, not an intentionally three-legged table. But I thought it was interesting that her first thought to "What's missing" was "Chairs", followed by "Food on the table."

I've always favored the three-legged tables anyway. They wobble less. Same with chairs.

Yeah, a tripod is inherently stable. Which is part of why six legs is such a successful model.
