Or, in which just about everyone analyzes the dog-and-pony show.  Having no TV service, I was mercifully spared the direct brain-melting experience.  From what I'm hearing, neither candidate pulled off what anyone could fairly call a stirring performance, but Joe Biden started the ball rolling with a gaffe that's pretty inexcusable for an alleged Constitutional scholar, and just about everyone is calling him on the carpet for it.

Would it be too much to ask for us to have legislators and executives who actually know, and pay attention to, the Constitution? It IS supposed to be the supreme law of the land, after all.

There's this meme going around that calls for you to write about a Supreme Court decision you disagree with.  But it didn't start out that way.  It started out just as, "Write about a Supreme Court decision other than Roe v. Wade."  Because, after all, "that's the only Supreme Court decision Sarah Palin's ever heard of."

Except that's not true.  The actual question put to Palin (wording not guaranteed to be exact) wasn't "Do you know any Supreme Court decisions other than Roe v. Wade?"  It was, "Do you know any Supreme Court decisions that you disagree with, other than Roe v. Wade?"

I think we can all agree that's a very, very different question to answer "No" to.

Fer crissake, people, NONE of these candidates are paragons.  Doesn't any one of them have enough flaws worthy of criticism without people just making up extra ones to bash them about?

The song my playlist threw out made me thing of an observation I made some years ago:

When in Rome, contrary to the proverb, you are by no means obliged to do as the Romans do.  You are, however, in a rather poor position to complain about the Romans doing as the Romans do.
