unixronin: Ummm.... It's an avatar. No, not an Airbender or a Na'vi. Just an avatar. (Hiro-ic)

As pointed out by [livejournal.com profile] elegantelbow, First Bank SD has a new service which hopes to compete with Pay Pal.  One of the major differences between First Bank's Revolution MoneyExchange and PayPal is that, well, First Bank is a real bank and a member of the FDIC, which means that your money is insured up to $1000.  It also means they have to comply with banking regulations, and can't pull the same shenanigans that PayPal has been frequently documented as doing.  What's more, unlike PayPal, Revolution does not charge you a fee to receive payments.  There are some fees, but all are avoidable.  (Example: $2.50 fee for withdrawals by check, but ACH transfers to an existing bank account are free.)

Refer A Friend using Revolution Money Exchange

If you sign up by tomorrow (Thursday, 5/15), you'll get a free $25 in your account.  If you get there by clicking the button at right, I will also receive a referral bonus of $10.  (Step 3:  Profit!)

UPDATE:

I have just been advised by [livejournal.com profile] rbos that, although it doesn't say so up front anywhere, you must be a US resident to be able to sign up for MoneyExchange.  However, [livejournal.com profile] danjite was able to sign up, and he's in New Zealand.  Further clarification pending as I know more.
