The good news: I have a real bed, real chairs, and a dresser to put my clothes in instead of living out of a suitcase. (The mirror on the dresser needs some glass cleaner ... shopping list, shopping list.) And my DSL is online, so I have net connectivity from home.
The bad news: I think the built-in firewall, which CANNOT BE TURNED OFF OR MEANINGFULLY CONFIGURED, on my 3Com wireless router (hey, it's a stopgap, and it was free) is stabbing me in the back. It's almost impossible to maintain a continued connection through it for longer than about 15 minutes. I don't think it understands the concept of an ongoing connection. Piece of crap..... it'll have to get replaced with something decent, soon as I can.
Ah well, off to work now, I've missed enough of the day.
Update:
I picked up a Linksys WRT54G at Fry's on the way home. Unlike the dysfunctional 3Com, it Just Works. I have written off the 3Com as terminally passive-aggressive. But hey, it was salvage, so I'm not really out anything. (And the WRT54G supports WPA, so my wireless net is, like, secure 'n'shit. I'll probably turn on MAC address filtering too, and I'm not broadcasting my SSID, so it should be about as secure as it reasonably can be. It'll probably get Sveasoft firmware shortly.
