Well, today's plan was that we were supposed to be on the road to Raleigh right now to meet ManinBlak (not yet assimilated, to my knowledge) when he flies in.

There's just this one problem.  I've developed this rash.  At first I thought I just had a couple of insect bites, but it's spreading.  It's now on both wrists, the inside of both elbows, the back of my neck, and my right eyebrow, among other places, and it ITCHES LIKE FUCK.  I don't know whether it's an allergic reaction or some kind of infection, or even whether I've picked up some kind of damned parasite, and I don't know whether I'm contagious.  So now we have to go to the walk-in clinic at ECU Physicians between 1400 and 1600 today instead, and I'm wishing we'd gone yesterday.

I guess we're going to be late getting to Raleigh.  Sorry, MiB.

I just learned that Bacula, the open-source enterprise backup tool I've been helping work on for about two years now, is now picking up enterprise customers from Arkeia.  We've previously had large sites switch to Bacula from Legato Networker, we recently had a site switch to Bacula from AMANDA because "Amanda is too f*#@$%g complicaterd to set up and does what IT wants to do, and Bacula Just Works."  Now, in the last few days, we just had a large German customer switch to Bacula after their expensive Arkeia installation shot itself in the head.

(I've previously commented, though not here, upon the critical architectural flaws inherent in Arkeia's design.  Suffice it to say that if I was an enterprise customer, I wouldn't rely on Arkeia if it was the last enterprise backup package on Earth.  Sure, it has a pretty GUI, but the underlying engine is a steaming, fetid pile of rancid dingos' kidneys.  I cannot begin to speculate on what the designers at Knox Software were thinking.)

. . . the rash is most likely atopic dermatitis.  So on top of everything ELSE, I now have hydrocortisone valerate cream to control the rash, and Atarax to control the damned itching.  Can we PLEASE have a stop to the annoying medical shit, please?
