I spoke to him late last night as he drove into Reno. I had hoped that we'd get together for dinner in Truckee, CA, but he had no NexTel cell service along I-80 between Sacramento and Reno (this is not a surprise to me; they were originally designed as a business-only service and pretty much have coverage limited to major metropolitan areas), and I'd already eaten by the time he called.
I did tell him about the weather system that's moving into the Sierras this afternoon and evening (Wednesday), and suggested he keep an eye on the WX along his route, with the goal of being on the other side of The Rocky Mountains before it gets there. Given his later post from this morning, I'm confident he'll manage that.
