... or have a great many comment pages stopped working?  Some journals, such as my own and [livejournal.com profile] ilcylic's, are still working.  In others, such as [livejournal.com profile] micheinnz's and [livejournal.com profile] technoshaman's, suddenly all page loads for comment pages - whether to read or post -- are consistently failing.

And I can't view cuts in the affected journals, either.

If you see this comment, then some sort of comment page must be working. 8-)

Yeah, I just updated the question with the note that some journals are unaffected while others are consistently broken.

It probably depends which cluster the journal is on.

I can load [livejournal.com profile] micheinnz's... dunno. May have been a temporary glitch....

Yeah, whatever the problem was, it appears to be fixed now.

I had troubles with mine, last night. Mine is un-paid [so far]. So I thought it had to do with this. But I see that those you mentioned, are paid accounts. Hmmmm... Guess it's just the cluster thing.... again.

How long before all accounts, have to be paid? Or adds show up?

But then, adds are everywhere. It's probably naive to expect they won't show up here... Eventually.

Livejournal is pulling in enough money from subscriptions and additional paid services that I consider it pretty unlikely for LJ to start inserting ads into people's journals at any time in the likely future. Ad revenue is frankly nothing compared to subscription revenue.

I didn't realize they were making *enough.* I thought there were few paid subscriptions and it would become too much, to carry all the free ones. But obviously I don't know enough about the 'business.' Thank you.

It's pretty wonderful to not have to expect ads all over here. Since they seem to be almost everywhere, I kind of give up and think... Oh well, it's just the way things go. :(

It's refreshing to hear differently.

Well, that's my understanding, in any case. I'm not privy to the internal financials of LJ, so I could be mistaken, but that's what I believe to be the case.

May I add you, to my 'what-I-can-click-on-and-read-the-latest-posts' list? Yes, it's called Friends. But that sounds kind of presumptuous. I wish it was called "Reading List," or some such. I like to make real friends in cyber. But I hardly presume that everyone whats me, as an _immediate_ friend. :(

Anyway, may I?

Be my guest.

(Yeah, apparently there's been some talk of LJ reworking the "Friends" thing to change "Friends" and "Friend Of" to something more like "Subscriptions" and "Subscribers". I think it'd be a good idea, personally. After all, you can always create a separate filter for people who are your actual friends, not just your readership, if you feel the need to. I make comparatively few "friends"-only posts, myself.

I like your interests list, by the way.

Be my guest.

Thank you.

I like your interests list, by the way.

Again, thank you. And me, yours. Especially nice to see things like Highlander, swords, sword making, muscat wines... I take it you mean, the sweet dessert wines. Mmmmmmmmm... I-love-sweet-wines. And there's *nothing wrong* with Vikings, either.

And as to Highlander, it's 'Highlander the Series,' with me. Not the films. Well, 'Methos' did have a tiny cameo in the last one... Wearing a yellow shirt, if I remember... mmmmmmmmm... [smile] And Bronze Age Methos.... mmmm...

I don't consider them just dessert wines, though most people do. I don't like my wines to be heavily tannic. A good muscat canelli, to me, is an excellent dinner wine, and an orange muscat goes well with some meals too.

Now, a late-harvest black muscat .... now you're talking dessert wine.

Mmmmm... How soon and where? ,-)

Sorry, I don't have any right now... haven't had any of that in about ten years, actually.
But at least I'm within a hundred miles or so of wineries where, later in the year, I might be able to get some.

[smile] And since I'm about 2400+ miles away, it would be _very_ difficult, hu?

Sorry, I don't have any right now...

But you do have the nicest way of saying "no".

Sunday, February 13th, 2005 12:09 am (UTC)
Well, when one must say "no," one hates to do so rudely. :)
