Yeah, I've just remembered the second of the three things I meant to post about this morning.  Why don't dishwashers have timers?

A hell of a lot of people live in apartments and get up early to go off to work.  But a lot of dishwashers aren't exactly quiet, and you can make yourself unpopular with your neighbors starting the dishwasher at 0600.  Why doesn't someone make a dishwasher for apartments that has a couple of delay-timer buttons?  Set the wash cycle you want, then push 2 to start in 2 hours, or 4 to start in 4 hours, or START to start right now.

Hey, you never know, it could be the next big Idea Whose Time (or timer) Has Come.

We have one that has a delay for 2, 4, or 6 hours. Didn't cost us a fortune, either. We weren't really shopping for that feature--we were aiming for something that runs quietly. But it's a feature we use a lot.

Still, I suspect it's more expensive than the average contractor/apartment complex owner is willing to pay for a major kitchen appliance.
