...Wen the Eternally Surprised, at 17.5 months, has mastered the art of climbing over the expanding child-safety gate to get into the kitchen, a feat never achieved by her bigger sister, the Dread Pirate Bignum (now 3.5 years old).  Her technique is interesting: she climbs the latticework to the top of the gate, rolls over the top of the gate, then grabs the edge of the counter and does a modified gate-vault dismount.  She has not yet been seen to fall, either.

As [livejournal.com profile] cymrullewes said, "We are in so much trouble now."

Please convey my congratulations to Wen the E.S. As one who went through a "child-proof" garden gate at 2, I applaud her determination, ingenuity, and agility.

It is so convenient to have children over 7.

*snerk* We've got one over 7 and two under 5. Pirate learned how to safely slide down the stairs on her belly 2 hours after [livejournal.com profile] unixronin finally put the gate at the top of the stairs. Goose never really did anything interesting like Pirate and Wen have. Pirate and Wen are escape artists.

I foresee a medal for gymnastics in Wen's future... ;-)

If he gets the job at NASA in Greenbelt then my cousin, Laurie, can take over Wen's training. Laurie got several medals for her gymnastics. Except that by the time she was 14 years she had ruined her knees.

More plastic boxes and duct tape.
