Speculation from 2peculiar

bbwoof just found and posted about this article from 2peculiar, speculating about the realities of the Bush administration and the social changes in the US that have made it possible for Bush to get re-elected after his miserable performance over the past four years.

I think 2peculiar may have nailed a good part of it.  Again, I do not find this a cheerful concept: the victory of the small-minded, the self-centered, the fearful, the xenophobic.

The problem is that 2peculiar's argument of the SUV conservative falls apart when you consider that two of the three most populous states, California and New York, voted Liberal.

The half of the country's population, plus three million, who voted for Bush are spread over upwards of 80% of the land area of this country. That's not suburbanite, that's rural.

Go look at the county rolls. Generally, urban and suburban counties went liberal, rural counties went Bush.
