[slightly edited for spelling etc.]

<rain_man> we seem to have had a temblor here.  6.0 in Parkfield, far enough south of here that I didn't feel anything.
<bfudlmint> Most measured earthquake in history.
<rain_man> bfud - nod.  Parkfield is heavily wired, since it's expected the next major earthquake will hit there.
<rain_man> the seismologists are probably orgasming at the thought of all that data.
<rain_man> "Did the earth move for you?"
<GingerBear> "Well, duh.  It moved for, like, everybody."

::tap on the shoulder::

Hey, Alaric. This is Mustardseed from Bitmines... Don't know if you remember who I am...

What's this I hear about you walking? Last time I talked to you you'd just gotten out of the wheelchair. Good to hear you're less broken. Less broken is always good.

Hey, haven't seen or heard from you in ages.

Yeah, I'm somewhat less broken. I've totally lost count of all the surgeries I've had. Working on final cleanup on my toes right now .... at this point it comes down to whether cortisone shots will clean up the residual inflammation on the little toe and make it less painful, or whether it gets amputated. I can walk, provided I have shoes on and my orthotics in them to raise my heel enough that I can get my left foot under me with weight on the heel without hyper-extending my left knee, and provided I don't have to walk too far and the surface is smooth and level. I trip on smooth, flat floors when I start to tire, and I tire quickly.

Still, it's progress. And if we can just get my toes sorted, I'll be able to ride.

May things continue to go so well, and may they keep getting better! You've come a long way from when you were still getting the wheelchair stuck on everything in sight.
