Oh, well, [profile] cymrullewes would have hated Mojave anyway...

Scaled Composites is currently accepting applications for all Engineering disciplines. Please submit resumes to careers@scaled.com in MS Word or Adobe pdf format. Resumes are entered into our database and kept active for two years.

Only applications from U.S. citizens can be considered.

Bah.

Oops. I was under the impression you had your citizenship.

Nope, not yet. It keeps getting monkeywrenched. I need to re-file the fee waiver request again -- I've only been meaning to do so for the past six months .... but it tends to be out of sight, out of mind, and I don't remember it.

That's kinda lame... Working for Scaled would rock, but I agree that living in Mojave would be teh suck. Still, you'd get that "Right Stuff" feeling being out there in the desert working on cutting edge aerospace stuff... Doesn't do jack for the rest of the family though.

I could probably deal with the Mojave. Dry heat and all that. [livejournal.com profile] cymrullewes would just die off though.

I can't figure out why it's US citizens only. As far as I know, Scaled Composites does no defence work. (Of course, if they were working on military projects, maybe we wouldn't</b. know, without some suitably high security clearance....)

Right... Frankly, I would say that the requirement is a strong indication that they do have their hands in some federal pies. It's the simplest explanation for such a limitling clause.

Yup, Occam's Razor does tend to suggest it. Stealthy RPVs or UAVs, perhaps.

Sorry about that.

I am puzzled about this requirement also. In many cases it violates equal opportunity laws to even ask about citizenship. You're only permitted to ask about a right to work in the US under EEOC guidelines (http://www.eeoc.gov/facts/qanda.html) (http://www.eeoc.gov/facts/qanda.html)

I'm sure there are exceptions, and perhaps this is one of them.

Anything where a security clearance and/or US citizenship are mandatory for the job, they pretty much have to say so up front. I don't think that conflicts with EEOC.

Hrmmm. Except for the fact that it's in California, Mojave wouldn't be so bad. But I don't know where S. would work.

Guess I won't apply.

I realize you're probably really the last person on my friends list I should be whining to about my job woes, but "Why can't anything ever work out?"

There's something to be said for griping to someone who understands your situation. :)

(Who do I talk to about melting down, though?)

Refresh my memory: what does spsh do again?

She's a Pharm D. At a hospital that doesn't lie to applicants about what they'll be doing once hired, she'd be working in the Trauma Dept., advising doctors on thereputic medications to be used in emergency situations. At the hospital she got a job with instead, she's a data entry tech with a doctorate.

That is ass. I hate when employers make promises they have no intention of keeping.

Sadly, these days, most employers seem to think it's OK to treat their people like total shit, because they can always get more.

Say ......... you guys considered New Hampshire? :)

Aw, man! That is teh suck.
