Oh look, here's Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY who got into office largely by pretending to be a "Blue Dog"¹) totally not using Tucson as an excuse for more gun control laws.  After all, it didn't work in California, it didn't work in Massachusetts, it didn't work under the Clintons, why not try it again?  Astronomers just corrected all the astrological signs for the precession of the Earth's axis since astrology was invented in Babylonian times; maybe the bill will "work" now.

...Oh come on, it's as reasonable as any other rationale.

[1]  Uh, never mind the false-colors part, I somehow managed to confuse her with Kirstin Gillibrand.  ...No, I can't begin to guess how I conflated two such dissimilar names.

In this case, the liberals are, if nothing else, persistent. You know, because, it really, should be hard to be able to hurt someone else. (Looking at practical examples of where that has been tried is not promising, but, well, they just didn't do it right.)

Idealism is an admirable trait, in balance. It is a desirable trait, in adolescents. While I hope everyone retains a certain amount of "Damn the torpedoes" focus on a goal, continually harping on a lost cause seems counterproductive. Overreaching lost the Democrats their lock on government, at just the wrong time (redistricting). The problem is that the blue districts are REALLY blue. Those are the goals of the core constituents of those reps. That disconnect is making the country harder to govern. The output of the reps that are being increasingly marginalized will increasingly become more strident and shrill. If you thought it was ugly before...

But, then again, maybe their stars will align. I have always been wary of astrology. I keep worrying that my moon will be in someone else's house.
