Well, there is the continuing question over whether he was really born a US citizen. (I'm given to understand efforts are afoot to quash continuing investigations into said question.)

why quash it when the truth could set him free?

It's only a continuing question amongst the I'm-so-mad-Obama-got-elected-I-could-just-spit crowd, and the efforts to quash it are basically everyone else pointing and laughing.

Seriously, I hold that right up with the I'm-so-mad-Bush-was-elected-I-could-just-move-to-Canada crowd claiming that Bush was showing signs of pre-senile dementia. They're equally absurd.

I think it more the case than it being Obama's choices, that pretty much anybody close enough to any national level politician is going to have such issues because otherwise they wouldn't have had what it takes in the Us to rise to the attention of a national politician.

I suspect you're right, which is a rather sad commentary on US politics. It's almost impossible to succeed in national politics if you're honest and unwilling to compromise on principles.

Unfortunately I agree with this sentiment. More specifically, everyone has skeletons in thier closet. The real question is how big are they, and how well are they hidden. Obama does seem to have a talent for choosing people with big, poorly hidden skeletons. This also make me question the qulifications of his advisors that these skeletons are being revealed this quickly, are they alseep at the switch, or do they not have any better candidates.

Well, we ARE talking about someone whose political base is Chicago.... ;)

I think they are uncomfortable to use more Stazi-like vetting tactics that they really should be using. They are still pretending to be the good guys- to themselves, of course- whereas BushCo were getting like Himmler in his red-leather seiquined Stormtrooper uniform and wallowing in the stench of their own putridity.

I think it's a clever ploy on Mr. Obama's part to expose corruption.

If we truly do get the government we deserve, we must be a bunch of twisted, evil bastards.
